Gulab Jamun is one of India’s most cherished and iconic desserts, known for its melt-in-the-mouth texture and syrupy sweetness. These soft, deep-fried balls are made from khoya (reduced milk solids) or milk powder, rolled into smooth dough, and fried until golden. Once fried, they are soaked in a fragrant sugar syrup infused with cardamom, rose water, or saffron, which gives them their signature sweetness and aroma.
Gulab Jamun is often served at festive occasions, celebrations, and family gatherings, symbolising joy and indulgence. Its name is derived from “gulab,” meaning rose, due to the rose-flavoured syrup, and “jamun,” referencing the shape and colour that resemble the Indian berry of the same name.
