Halwa

Halwa is a beloved traditional dessert across India, known for its rich, comforting flavour and wide variety of forms. Made from simple ingredients like semolina (sooji), wheat flour, lentils, or even vegetables like carrots and pumpkins, halwa is typically cooked in ghee and sweetened with sugar, often flavoured with cardamom, saffron, or nuts for added richness.

Among the most popular types are sooji halwa, gajar ka halwa (made from grated carrots), and moong dal halwa (made from split green gram). Halwa’s soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture makes it a favourite at festivals, weddings, and religious offerings.

This indulgent dessert holds a deep cultural significance in India, often served as prasad during religious ceremonies or as a special treat during celebrations. Its ability to be both simple and luxurious makes halwa a timeless favourite that brings warmth, tradition, and sweetness to every occasion.
