Idli

Idli is a soft, steamed rice cake that is a beloved staple in South Indian cuisine, known for its light texture and nourishing qualities. Made from a fermented batter of rice and urad dal (split black gram), idlis are typically enjoyed as a breakfast or snack, accompanied by chutneys and sambar (a tangy lentil soup). Their mild, slightly tangy flavour comes from the fermentation process, which also enhances their digestibility.

Idlis are often praised for being healthy, as they are low in fat and easy to digest. The fermentation process not only makes them nutritious but also rich in probiotics, which promote gut health.

These fluffy, pillow-soft cakes are perfect for dipping in a variety of condiments, making them versatile and loved by people of all ages. Idli’s simplicity, health benefits, and comforting taste make it a timeless favourite in Indian households.
