Vada

Vada is a beloved Indian snack known for its crispy exterior and soft, flavorful interior. These savoury fritters come in various forms, with the most popular being medu vada, made from urad dal (black gram), and aloo vada, a spiced potato filling encased in a gram flour batter.

To prepare vada, the ingredients are typically soaked, ground, and seasoned with spices like cumin, black pepper, and green chilies. The mixture is then shaped into round patties or doughnuts and deep-fried until golden brown. The result is a delightful combination of textures—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Vada is often served with tangy chutneys or sambar, making it a favourite at festivals, tea-time, or as a starter. Its versatility allows for numerous variations, each reflecting regional flavours and preferences. Whether enjoyed alone or as part of a meal, vada remains a cherished staple in Indian cuisine, celebrating the joy of comfort food.
